Like A Zombie

I also found time to create a page that freaked a few people out here in the family. I wanted to do something different and inspire me to keep going. Sometimes I feel like a right zombie in life and after finding the "The Walking Dead" app on Facebook, I knew I had to have a few of those pictures printed. It isnt for everyone's liking but those who known me during me most difficult times, know where it comes from.

I've used the Chillingsworth paperline by Echo Park, added Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze to create blood drippings, various mulberry flowers, DoCrafts Chronology gears, Prima crystals, black feathers and DMC yarn. I hope you will like this freaky lay out.

Magnolia Tilda With Key Card

After a busy time exploring the Caran d'Ache crayons and also the Pablo pencils, I know for sure this is me favorite brand to use for colouring. They have me convinced! I have tried the Pablo pencils out on one of me favorite Tilda stamps. Tilda With Key. I wanted a vintage colouring to match the Prima Engraver and Authentique papers so I decided to colour her mostly with brown n beige tones as this set of pencils has a wide variety of those. This is the first time colouring and I am amazed by how softly they colour and need no pressuring to get the pigment onto the paper. Blending the colours with odorless spiritus is also very easily done. The pencils hold so much pigment, you really only need a tiny bit coloured.

Using the Prima Engraver papers was a challange. I'm all for using browns n blacks but I have never done this for a Magnolia card. I did however add paper from an Authentique paperline to make it toned down. it was getting too dark otherwise. Mixing these papers was no problem as they have the same feel to it and also the same style.

Here is how it turned out:

Where To Order Caran d'Ache Crayons?

After recieving the tiny tin with the Caran d'Ache Neocolour II Watersolutable Wax Crayons, I began to do an internet search for loose crayons. I was wondering where they could be purchased in singles. I'm very picky when it comes to colours and which colours I use mostly. The one main colour I was missing in this set was.... Flesh! I was also missing the lighter pastel colours like pale blue, softer pink, salmon colours, different shades of brown and grey's and few dimmed coloured greens. Here began me search as I wanted to add these by me own pick of choice. This is what I found so far that are both easy to access and easy to use as colour referrences:

The basic set of 15 crayons are great for creating backgrounds and bright images other than portraits. As I like to stamp Magnolia, Gorjuss, Sweet Pea, Sarah Kay and Sugar Nellie, I'm totally missing the flesh colour in me collection. I firstly found an online artists shop called De Kwast . They sell the crayons as singles at a reasonable price and shipping fee. They wrap carefully and they ship out very quickly after you ordered! This are a Holland based wedshop.

Next I found an UK based webshop called Lawrence . They seem reasonable in price too and they sell singles aswell. This shop has a plus: they use a colourchart instead of showing the crayons itself. I find this particularly handy cause this way you can see the colour much better. I do not know how they are in packaging and shipping fees. Best is to ask them.

And just now tonight, right before writing this blog entry, I found another webshop and they are called Gerstaecker . They also sell the crayons as singles and from what I can see, the full range of available colours, this also includes a few metallic colours. And they sell the flesh colour. I ordered a few colours and will find out how their packaging is and how fast they handle things. They price per crayon is very reasonable but they charge more shipping fee than De kwast. So I reckon their packaging will be very good! They ship to both Netherlands and Belgium. Their website says, Europe's Biggest Webshop For Artists so think they will ship to other European countries aswell. Best to ask tho prior to ordering.

I will be playing with these crayons for hours! I've coloured one Gorjuss stamp image already with these and for a first timer, it came out well. I didnt have the flesh colour at the time of colouring this but I will be trying them more as soon as I have the flesh colours :) Will keep you updated on that!

Graphic 45 Blog

Today I noticed that one of me cards have been featured on the Graphic 45 blog. This was a very pleasant surprise for me. I feel very honoured that they found me card pretty enough to be posted on their blog. It is the lilac coloured Happy Birthday card that I posted on me own blog earlier. These papers are always a pleasure to work with, so easy to to use and endless to create with. An even nicer thing about their papers, all collections go together in the end so when ever you have left over pieces of scrappapers, you can mix n match them up into something like a card, mini album, tags or what ever comes to mind.

You can find the Graphic 45 blog here

Caran d'Ache Crayons

Yesterday I recieved the wonderful Caran d'Ache watersolutable crayons in the mail. I've been eyeballing these crayons for a while now but they are quite expensive to buy. These crayons have the same density as regular kids crayons but with one wonderful n neat advantage: They are mixable with water! They work like aquarelles and give the same finishing effect. These crayons are so easy to use and do great on those cute lil postcard sized aquarelle papers, or cartons I should say cause I bought the heavy duty ones ;-)

The following cards are regular postcard sizes and watercoloured with Caran d'Ache Neocolour II, hand stamped with stamps by Tim Holtz, Pink Paisley, Kaisercraft, StudioG, My Minds Eye (and I am sure I missed a few brands!), the edges are inked with Distress and Memento inks.

This is what I did with them:

Gorjuss!

I've found a new love! The wonderful Gorjuss stamps and paper lines. These lil girls are simply gorjuss ;) They are easy to colour in and they come with coordinating papers, brads, ribbons and frames. I started on a small chipboard standing display. It isnt quite finished yet so that photo will be posted at a later stage. I do want to show the haul I had with the Gorjuss items I recently bought and the first coloured stamp image.

This line is so much fun to work with. The stamps are easy to use and each set comes with additional stamps to embellish your image. They also have a very strong cling adhesive and the red rubber is very detailed and easy to clean. One thing Docrafts really give a thought about was that each package, including the paperpacks, have cut out images inside. Everything can be used! Very eco friendly. The finished chipboard project will be posted when finished :)

Happy crafting!

New Born Baby Cards

With all the birthday cheer of mine from last Saturday, I still managed to find time to create two Baby cards. Me niece had a baby girl last week, which is the first grandchild of me uncle. This had to be cheered greatly I thought. I made one card for Grandpa and Grandma and one for the parents.

I created these cards with left over papers from the Graphic 45 Little Darlings 8x8 paper pad. Last week I bought Graphic 45 papers from someone on facebook, she had a bunch of left over items, pads half used and a bunch of clippings. The Little Darlings was with it aswell. Much to me cheer ofcourse as it would be perfect for these cards :)

I'll show you the Grandparents one first. I used a pink gingham printed paper for the background, two left over pieces to create the borders. I've cutted the chipboard tag with a Sizzix Tag Die and glued same size paper on it to cover the chipboard. The image is also a clipping from the same set. I used a store brand beige/white gingham printed ribbon and Basic Grey button. Everything is inked with Versafine Smokey Grey ink.

Next card is the Parents one. This one has two sheets of the paper pad as a background, there was just enough to create this background. One sheet of each, YAY! I've handstitched this with DMC pink beige yarn and inked with Versafine Smokey Grey ink. The banner was made with left over strips of paper, Gorjuss beige buttons in Marianne Design baby flowers. The metal baby tag and corners are store brand and so are the flowers.

Birthday Cards

Today I want to show you two of the cards I made at an earlier time. We're in the birthday spirits here with mine coming up very soon. I want to show you two male cards.

The first one is one with a Magnolia Edwin Stamp. For this card I used varied Basic Grey Origins 6x6inch design papers. I really like this collection a lot due to the use of greens, yellows, blacks and browns. This combination with the prints used, work great. It makes great use for male cards. I also used Lifestyle Crafts dies ( previously named Quickutz) for the back ground. I hand stitched it with DMC brown yarn, used Magnolia fence and tag dies, Tim Holtz floral stamp, copics to colour Edwin. I choose not to ink this card and use the papers bare as I would explain it.

Next I want to show you a male Birthday Card that I made with Graphic 45 A Ladies Diary papers. This line is mainly female themed but there are a few images that are great to use for male cards and this one is one of them. I've used the Graphic 45 papers for the backgrounds and tags. The tag is a Sissix BIGZ die and the shaped background is a Lifestyle Crafts die. I used an Inkadinkado clear text stamp for the Birthday wishes, various metal embellishments and ribbons, the image is hand stitched with brown DMC yarn to make it pop a lil more. Everything is inked with Colorbox sepia Cateye ink.

Siblings

I also want to share this lay out with you. It is the first lay out that I made of me brother and I. We are rarely on a photo together as I am usually the one taking photo's of him. This photo of us was made by me mum.

To create this lay out, I've used the Graphic 45 Bird Song 12x12 paper sheets. It took me several days to get everything right, right how I wanted it to be. The black backing paper shows small images of chinese star signs, funnily enough, Graphic 45 added the Rooster and Dragon to this paper. Both are our star signs, me brother is a Rooster and I am a Dragon in Chinese Astrology. That made this paper simply perfect for this photo. The floral frame was from another Bird song paper which I've cut, painfully handstitched with DMC gold yarn. I've fussycutted the flowers, birds and postal stamps. I've used store brand 3D flower stickers, to add some depth into the lay out. The black frame is a Prima Marketing resin frame which I've painted black with acrylic paint and added some gold ink to make it look antique. The titel is from Making Memories Sabrina alphabet stickers. I'm particularly proud of this lay out cause it's me brother and me and both our chinese star signs are featured in the paper.

Happy Wishes

Today I have another wonderful card for you. This one is also made with the Graphic 45 Secret Garden 8x8 paperpad, chipboard elements and sticker elements.

I've used 2 different sheets of papers to create the background for this card which I then handstitched with pale green DMC yarn. I've added antique silver metal photo corners to finish it. I've added a border with the Secret Garden paper on which I used Marianne Design lace ribbon. On the banner I've added a chipboard element with a background paper from the paper pad. The title was made with the alphabet stickers. The little tag is a cutout from one of the papers which is handstitched with DMC silver yarn. All the papers are inked with Colorbox Cateye dune and sepia inks. The flowers and buds are store brand mulberry flowers.

I also want to mention that I found out today, that me cards have been used for publishing on the Harlekino webshop as Inspiration cards. After a nice phonecall, I was informed they were just as surprised and pleased to hear that these cards were made by a fellow Dutch scrapper. I feel very honoured and humbled that they find me cards very beautiful and publishing worthy. Thank you Marion and Jeroen for publishing them in your webshop.

This is the link where they are listed: Harlekino webshop

First Card Of The Blog

With pride I present to you this first card of me blog. I've noticed I still have to work on this blog for a while so hang in there with me. Eventually I will get it right!

This card that I am gonna show to you, was made with a price pack that I had won at the Graphic 45 blog contest in January. It was the Secret Garden 8x8 paper pad, 2 sheets of cardstock stickers and 2 sheets of chipboard elements. I absolutely LOVE this collection from them and I already ordered more! It is so full with gorgeous Spring colours and designs. I've used 3 different sheets of paper to create the background which was handstitched with DMC lilac yarn. Added metal photo corners and a raised banner with beautiful white lace. The lil card on top of it, was handstitched with DMC gold yarn and attached with 3D foam to raise it up like the banner. The text element is from the chipboard set and the title is from the sticker set. To add the finishing touches, I've used store brand mulberry flowers. It is such a pleasure to work with Graphic 45 papers, so much detail in their designs.
